In my 4th year of undergraduate studies as a mechanical engineering student, I was part of a capstone project where I collaborated with 10 mechanical and electrical engineers and 1 app developer to develop a consumer fire prevention product that includes a physical device and a mobile app. I was the sole product (app) designer that designed a 0-1 mobile app encompassing user flows from device onboarding to stove monitoring features.
This was one of my most ambitious projects and our project won the excellence in multidisciplinary project at the end of the year!
MY IMPACT
- Identified an opportunity for a elevated product experience and pitched the idea for an app in the initial stages of project
- Created detailed project plan and timeline for the app to ensure project success
- Conducted multiple rounds of user testing sessions to refine the product over the course of 9 months
- Owned the app design from start to finish
- Created detailed engineering hand-off guide for seamless developer collaboration
- Briefed FLIR advisors on a regular basis and receive feedback for further iterations
